Below is a description of our SPRAT level 1, level 2, and level 3 programs. Depending if you are a new technician, upgrading, or re-certifying, we have video resources to help you prepare. Scroll down to get more information!

SPRAT Level 1 Course

The SPRAT Level 1 course is designed for new students who have never done any rope access course before. You'll be introduced to the SPRAT certification process, learn how to operate the rope access system, and what your role is in a rope access team.

SPRAT Level 2 Course

The SPRAT Level 2 course is designed for anyone who has completed their L1 and meets the SPRAT L2 prerequisite requirements for training admittance. Or, if you need to recertify your almost expiring SPRAT level 2 certification. The L2 course goes beyond the basics and focuses on advanced rigging techniques developed to achieve more complex access solutions.

SPRAT Level 3 Course

The SPRAT L3 course is available for all level 2 SPRAT technicians with pre-requisites to advance or current level 3 technicians that need to renew with almost expiring level 3 certification. It is also the basis for Rope Access supervisory roles. This course will prepare applicants to lead their teams through complex and advanced rigging and rescue scenarios, while emphasizing the need for excellent leadership skills, paperwork, and job site management.

SPRAT Training FAQ's

How long are the SPRAT courses?

There are 4 days of training and then a 1 day evaluation . There is a third party SPRAT Evaluator, separate from Pacific Ropes, who comes in to conduct your evaluation. **Starting June 2022 in Vancouver, you will have a chance to select a 5 day training course. This means you will train for 5 days and evaluate on Saturday. To register for a 5 day training course, please select the dates that say SPRAT only. Or, IRATA or SPRAT only.

What do I get when I pass?

Once you pass your evaluation on the last day, you will receive a yellow copy of your evaluation form that will act as your temporary certification. This yellow copy is valid for 60 days while your ID card, certificate, and logbook (if you're a level 1) are mailed to you.

What happens if I don't pass?

Unfortunately, sometimes you may need to re-evaluate because you made a silly mistake or had a brain fart. You will need to wait at least 7 days to re-evaluate again. You are allowed up to 60 days to re-evaluate. If you wait past 60 days, you will need to take the full four days of training again. It costs $750 to do the re-assessment. Re-Assessments

How fit do you have to be?

Expect to be on your feet 90% of the time! Rope access courses are physically demanding and requires a certain fitness level. Be prepared to sweat! The courses consist of theory but will be mainly practical. Check out our fitness guidelines below. If you're not sure, you can contact us about our 1 day rope access awareness course to do a trial before you sign up for a full course.

What is the cost of training?

The SPRAT course is $2000 plus GST. Starting June 2022, if you are doing a 4 day training SPRAT course, the cost will remain at $2000 plus GST. If you choose a 5 day training SPRAT course, the cost will be $2300 plus GST.

What do I need to bring?

We will provide all the equipment that you will need for training. If you have your own CSA approved helmet, you may bring that but it is not necessary. A welcome email will be sent to you after registration with additional details!
