IRATA Level 1 Course

IRATA L1 is intended for anyone who has no previous Industrial Rope Access experience and needs to work at height on an industrial 2 rope system. Upon successful completion, you will be able to practice Rope Access as a technician for all IRATA member companies globally under the management of a L3 Supervisor.

How to Succeed Your IRATA Level 1

The IRATA L1 curriculum is based on the IRATA TACS (Training Assessment Certification Scheme). The TACS is where IRATA has defined the topics you'll be responsible for as a Level 1 student, and what it takes to pass those parts of the syllabus. The TACS in itself is a very technically dense document, so, to make it easier, we've broken down the IRATA L1 curriculum so that you have easy, on the go information. This should be used in conjunction with your training and can be bookmarked for reference when you're out working.

The resources outlined here is what your Assessor, Instructors, and IRATA Employers will be referencing. Learn how to be the best IRATA L1 Rope Access Technician and pass with "Excellent" on your assessment day.

With each successful completion of your IRATA L1 course, your IRATA L1 certification will be valid for 3 years. From there, you will need to re-certify again for another 3 years (do the full course again). Or, you can upgrade earlier if you have the correct hours.

L1 Expiry Upgrading

Unfortunately, sometimes you may need to re-assess because you made a silly mistake or had a brain fart. You are allowed up to 60 days to re-assess. If you wait past 60 days, you will need to take the full four days of training again. It costs $550 to do the re-assessment in Vancouver. I did my IRATA level 1 here and it was a fantastic experience. The facility is clean and thoughtfully laid out. Most importantly, the instructors were friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful! I love this place and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone thinking of coming here.

Big thanks to Josh and Cam for teaching a rope access newbie such as myself how to not die. Also a shout out to Don's husky, who I might dognap (shhh...)

Sara King

Big thanks to the staff/team at Pacific Ropes. The office admin made everything seem less and were very helpful with questions and concerns.

The training provided by Don and Josh was legendary. They made it fun and made sure we learned proper efficient technique and challenged us throughout the week. I would recommend taking the course here and will be coming back for course refreshers or recirtifications. I won’t be looking to go anywhere else now that I have found these guys.

Pacific Ropes feels like a home away from home now!

They take the time to make sure you have a firm comprehension of the material, as well are willing to work one on one with you to make sure get anything you're struggling with. They bring a great atmosphere and a fun learning environment.
